Cellophane is so flexible for wrapping gifts

I’m not one for wrapping gifts in layers of paper and sealing it down with sticky tape so that it takes the recipient ages to rip it open and see what is inside. I prefer a more subtle approach and actually often use cellophane to wrap a gift. You can get cellophane in a variety of different colours and although it is see-through, it seems to be such an ineresting way to wrap a present. The recipient has an inkling of what the gift is but is never quite sure. Wrap it up in cellophane, put a label and some ribbon on it and it sets off the perfect gift.

Getting to grips with cardboard packaging

It might seem a strange thing to say, but I love cardboard packaging. When done well, it can be as fascinating as origami, showing a very impressive level of design lavished on something which most people hardly think about before ripping it to pieces and throwing it away.

Of course, these days it’s all designed on computers, with various sophisticated 3d modelling programmes being used to work out what flap should go where and where each fold and curve should be. Good design in this field can reduce the amount of material needed for packaging, as well as providing protection for the item being packaged.
